Kelly Dallen a.k.a. Kelly D is a former DJ and electronic music producer who now DJs with words instead of sound. Originating from the Florida punk, new wave, and industrial music scene of the 1980s, he performed live across the southeastern United States with artists like My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Young Gods, and A Split Second. In the 1990s and 2000s, he DJed across the country for as many as 4000 people and as few as one small dog. In addition to Kelly D, he performed under the names The Galac-tech Funk Project and Metafakt. His productions were played worldwide by DJs including John Digweed, Sasha, and Carl Cox, including on the world famous BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
He holds an English degree with a specialization in Creative Writing, Magna Cum Laude, from Florida Atlantic University, is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Phi Kappa Phi, and won the Hollingsworth Memorial Scholarship for short stories in 2013. He is in the process of finishing his first novel that explores the 1980s underground music scene in Florida that is simultaneously mythological and universally human.
He is almost certainly the best living former rave DJ-slash-writer and once wrote a biography such as this one in the form of a fill in the blank Mad Lib.
Currently he is a web designer and social media / public information specialist for Palm Beach County, FL.
